The Workshop Shopping Centre is a landmark building in Durban and surrounds, in 1986 the original railway workshop for the Durban Station was transformed into what is now SA’s first themed shopping centre. As a community commuter centre we strive to support businesses in the area.
Apart from fixed retail space occupied by existing tenants, the centre also has various public spaces on offer, which are available to external businesses wanting to expand their marketing possibilities.
These court spaces afford retailers and private businesses the opportunity of showcasing merchandise to the broader public and could be seen as a creation or extension of ‘showrooms’.
Foot Traffic
The Workshop is frequented by people from all parts of Durban; our geographic catchment areas are not specific as the centre predominately takes advantage of the busy transport routes on the surrounding areas of The Workshop as well as the busy CBD. The centre boasts 100 retail outlets. And the average monthly foot count from February 2008 to January 2009 was 1,084 085.
